12. Massachussets

Okay, maybe this placement is primarily vibes based for me. I’m not 100% sure if I’ve spent enough time in Massachusetts to feel confident in this placement.

Regardless, I think there’s a lot to appreciate about the state. We have ranked nearly all New England states by now, but there is a reason why Massachusetts stands out above the rest. New England is known for its beaches, its history, its architecture, and its forests. And for the most part Massachusetts has all of these and better than most of its counterparts.

Boston, MA

Massachusetts has one of the most famous coasts in the country, and from what I hear, this is for good reason. It seems beautiful there and settlements go back to the 1600s which is pretty incredible. I think my biggest problem with the area would be how upperclass it is which is kinda my main gripe with a lot of the state. Considering this is the area where Vineyard Vines came from, the quintessential preppy clothes, it would make sense that I might not fit in there. Still I think it will be worth a visit someday.

But the real reason for me that Massachusetts is so high is quite obviously Boston. I feel like Boston is one of the few major cities in the US that I never hear anything bad about. I think a lot of the US’s oldest cities have some of the best urbanization because they were built in a time where most people walked everywhere. And Boston is so old that most of the greatest developments to city building over the past 400 years came there. Boston’s public transit has issues, but it is still more comprehensive than the rest of the country. It’s probably one of my most wanted to visit cities in the country. Last time I went there I only drove through, but in retrospect, that was a mistake. There’s not many places I’d want to visit more.

Sorry today is a little less detailed than most other states, especially this high. Massachusetts is the last state placed this high that I have never spent the night in. So with these kinds of states, their placements are surely subject to change, but I have a feeling that Massachusetts will be up high regardless. I’ll leave you with one of Boston’s greatest treasures.
