36. Iowa

You know, I can’t say why I have Iowa ranked this high. Maybe it’s some kinship I feel with the state being from neighboring Missouri.

Iowa is one of the only states I don’t really have anything bad to say about. It’s not too different from the plains states in terms of scenery, but there are actually hills and forests that the others don’t have. But at the same time, I don’t have a whole bunch of positive things to say either. The scenery is fine. The cities and towns are neat.

I’m struggling a bit here here. I haven’t really spent all that much time in Iowa despite it being so close. But what I do know is that Iowa is a state that kinda feels like home, if that makes sense. It’s not super exciting, but it’s just comfortable. I think when people imagine farm living, they imagine living in rural Iowa. Where life is simpler. You’re not too far from other people in your community. But it’s a place where you could sit in perpetuity in a rocking chair on your porch as you look upon the open fields and trees.
