4. Maine

Crazy how #4 and #5 are the farthest states away from each other in the country.

Okay, so I’ve said multiple times that  ___ state is probably the most consistently beautiful in the country, but none of those were true. It’s Maine hands down. Not only that, but it is like tear jerkingly beautiful pretty much wherever you go. The islands. The forests. The islands with forests. The forests with islands. Every other state that shares scenery anywhere close to Maine is just blown out of the water. 

Bangor, ME

Of my entire trip to the Northeast I went to 17 states and 5 Canadian provinces and Maine was far and away the highlight for me, maybe aside from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. It’s just… I don’t really know what to say.

I’m truly at a loss for words for Maine. I don’t really have anywhere in particular to highlight because it doesn’t matter where you go. It’ll be amazing regardless. Maine is definitely up there for states I need to revisit so I can give some proper recommendations. But I don’t have any doubt that the more time spent in the state, the better.
