Mr. Deeds

Release year: 2002
My Rating: ★½ out of 5

Tagline: Don’t let the fancy clothes fool you.

Synopsis: When Longfellow Deeds, a small-town pizzeria owner and poet, inherits $40 billion from his deceased uncle, he quickly begins rolling in a different kind of dough. Moving to the big city, Deeds finds himself besieged by opportunists all gunning for their piece of the pie. Babe, a television tabloid reporter, poses as an innocent small-town girl to do an exposé on Deeds.

Ugh. MR. DEEDS!

Mr. Deeds keeps showing us his dirty feet

This is an aggressively boring movie. Like I don't think I actively hate this one as much as Bulletproof, but oh my god was I just beside myself in how much I wanted this movie to be over. It felt like it was over 3 hours long, but it's barely over 90 minutes.

Sandler here is just being a normal dude. And I don't want him to be a normal dude! I want him to be funny! But he's not, and the rest of the movie isn't funny enough to engross you at all. Him and Winona Ryder have very little chemistry.

I've got one positive in this movie, and that is Steve Buscemi. I think this might be my favorite character of his because every joke of his lands. You would think that joke after joke about his crazy eyes would get old but they never do. Unfortunately he's only in the movie for like 3 minutes so I can't even give the movie that much credit. It probably bumps it up half a star.

If you can tell, I don't like this movie. I think a movie like this just makes me mad because I had to sit through it. It doesn't even have funny references I can make to it like Going Overboard. I feel like I remember a lot of jokes about dirty feet? This is a massive skip. Only put this on if you're looking to fall asleep.
