Burger King Foot Lettuce

Original “Burger King Foot Lettuce Video”

You know, early to mid 2010s YouTube had a lot of truly terrible "Top 10 ____" channels. So many of them presented as "fact-based" yet not having any sources whatsoever and was mostly just stuff the creator would pull from Reddit or 4chan. But in the darkness there was a light that shined through.

Enter "Chills", the person to take this genre of YouTube to its final form. And his magnum opus comes from his video "Top 15 Mysteries Solved by 4chan". You click on the video, and without delay or any introduction you are stuck by the opening spot on the list.

"Number 15: Burger King foot lettuce. The last thing you'd want in your Burger King burger is someone's foot fungus. But as it turns out, that might be what you get. A 4channer uploaded a photo anonymously to the site showcasing his feet in a plastic bin of lettuce with the statement: 'This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King.' Admittedly, he had shoes on. But that's even worse."

And with one moment shared around the internet, these videos like these became the butt of every joke. We truly reached the "What are we even doing here anymore?" stage of "top ___ lists". "Maybe these are videos for children", we all thought.

Me saying all this may imply that I don't like the "Burger King Foot Lettuce" video, but that could not be farther from the truth. I am laughing my ass off every time I think of "Burger King Foot Lettuce". Every piece of this puzzle is perfect from the immediate jump into the crazy topic to him saying you might get foot fungus in your lettuce to the cherry on top, "Admittedly, he had shoes on. But that's even worse."

To this day, every time I see the number 15, it is just impulse. I must say in that ridiculous voice "Number 15: Burger King foot lettuce. The last thing you'd want in your Burger King burger is someone's foot fungus. But as it turns out, that might be what you get."

I make fun of the voice, and some people may think I'm being offensive, but it's not. The voice is all an act: there is no accent. Chills has come out and said that he does the voice for viewer retention. How anyone could watch a video with that voice for 30 minutes is beyond me, yet here I am with only 5 people reading my blog daily and Chills has millions of subscribers, so he must have done something right.

There aren't many memes quite like this that I still quote to this day. I feel like this is one of those memes I've seen that is universally beloved for how ludicrous everything is. Chills even got to be in an episode of Smiling Friends for all of this. So even though it's pretty easy to clown on the guy, I must say, "Chills, I solute you, and your Burger King foot lettuce".
